This one's been a while coming.
After months of preparation — factory production, export packaging, international freight, and customs clearance — our first shipment of container dome shelters has arrived at our Melbourne warehouse.
It's a milestone worth documenting. Not because it makes for good marketing copy, but because it's the moment Toughcover Australia stops being a website and becomes a real local supplier with domes on the ground.
Every dome in this shipment was manufactured at the Jianqiang Metal Group factory — the same production facility that's been making industrial fabric structures for over 20 years.
From the factory floor, the dome shelter kits were packed into heavy-duty steel export crates, loaded into a shipping container, and sent on the journey to Australia. After clearing customs and navigating the logistics of international freight, the container arrived at our Melbourne warehouse in Wantirna South, Victoria.
The drive to get that container unloaded at midnight wasn't glamorous. But watching the first crates come off the forklift onto Australian soil made it worth it.
Most suppliers show you polished product renders. We thought it was worth showing what the process actually looks like.
Breaking the seal
The first job was cutting the customs seal — the physical confirmation that the container had cleared Australian Border Force inspection and the contents were released. One bolt cutter, one moment.

Forklift unloading
The Toughcover dome shelter crates aren't light. Every crate has integrated fork pockets designed for exactly this — a forklift slides in, the crate lifts clean, and it goes straight to its warehouse position without manual handling.

Inside the container
Before unloading, this is what the inside of the shipping container looked like — Toughcover-branded steel crates stacked and secured for the voyage from China to Victoria. Each crate carries a complete dome kit: steel frame components, PVC cover, Lock-Clamp hardware, Grade 8.8 bolts, and all installation accessories.

In the warehouse
Once everything was unloaded and positioned, this is what it looks like from the floor of our Melbourne warehouse. Branded crates. Model numbers. Ready to go.

A lot of online suppliers in Australia are effectively order-forwarding operations. You place an order, they place an order with an overseas factory, and you wait six to twelve weeks while the dome makes its way to you.
That's not how we operate.
The dome shelters now in our Melbourne warehouse are physically here — in Victoria, in stock, available for dispatch within 3–5 business days of payment. If you're in Melbourne or nearby, depot pickup is available by appointment. Our team will forklift the crate onto your vehicle or trailer at no charge.
For customers across the rest of Australia, we freight nationwide from Melbourne. Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia — we quote freight to your postcode, and the dome goes out from here.

Every dome in stock carries the same specification we've been writing about: hot-dip galvanised steel frames, 610gsm UV-rated white PVC covers, Grade 8.8 bolts throughout, and our no-weld Lock-Clamp mounting system.

The domes now sitting in our Melbourne warehouse are headed for farms, construction sites, transport depots, and industrial properties across Victoria and Australia.
Agricultural properties across the Mallee, Wimmera, and Gippsland — hay storage, machinery protection, seasonal cover for equipment that can't be left outside.
Construction and civil sites around Melbourne and regional Victoria — temporary covered storage and site workshops that relocate with the job. The no-weld Lock-Clamp system means the dome moves when the project does.
Transport and logistics depots — container yard cover, overnight freight protection, and depot storage near Melbourne's industrial precincts.
Industrial and mining sites — heavy equipment storage and all-weather operational cover in demanding environments.
Every dome shelter is certified to AS/NZS 1170.2:2021 for Wind Region A — engineered for real Australian outdoor conditions, not a showroom.
Being based in Melbourne isn't just about faster delivery. It means we have a local installation crew available for on-site work across Victoria.
When you buy a dome from a distant supplier or an online marketplace, installation is your problem. You either figure it out yourself or find and manage a contractor who may never have assembled a dome shelter before.
We offer professional on-site installation as an optional extra — our own crew, not subcontracted. We've assembled these domes ourselves. We know the Lock-Clamp system, the cover tensioning, and the specific steps that save time on site.
For customers outside Victoria, the no-weld Lock-Clamp system is designed for DIY assembly. 2-4 people with the supplied spanner kits can typically complete a full dome installation in one to two days. The installation manual walks through every step.
How we pack every dome shelter at the factory →
This first shipment is the foundation. The next container is scheduled to arrive in early August, bringing a broader range of dome models — including our 10-meter and 12-metre wide TS1006 to TS1212 series — and increased Melbourne inventory to support faster fulfilment for Australian customers.
We're also continuing to build out our installation capability in Victoria, with more capacity coming as demand grows.
This isn't a launch promotion. It's the beginning of how we intend to operate here for the long run — local dome stock, local support, and factory-direct pricing from a supplier that's actually committed to the Australian market.
To everyone who's reached out during the launch phase — sent an enquiry, requested a quote, or simply taken the time to read through our dome product pages — thank you. The interest has been genuine and encouraging.
If you're looking at a container dome shelter for your site — whether you're ready to order now or just starting to compare options — we're happy to talk through what fits your application.
No pressure. Just straight answers.
